2012 Derby to Oxford

10514281_10152406141659492_7241186227808947333_oFrom our fundraising page at the time:

Please help us to raise our fund-raising target of £1000 by sponsoring The Simpson Family in their epic 170 mile charity bike ride in aid of Sea Mills Community Initiatives (SMCI). Check out www.smci.org.uk to find out more.

Who are the ‘Family?’

Our family consists of Dave, Heidi (me), Harry (8), Charli (6) and Gracie (3) and we will be cycling the West Midland Way in its entirety from Derby to Oxford over the course of a week beginning on August 9th.We will stay in pre-booked hotels and b&b’s en-route and carry all our luggage on the bikes. Gracie will be cheering us all on from her seat on the back of my bike while Charli will be assisting Dave on the hills by pedalling on the tag-along. Harry who is only 8, will pedal himself along the whole 170 miles! That alone has to be worth a few quid ;o)
Why would you sponsor us?
Please consider sponsoring us for two reasons. 1) Our children. This is a long way with many many hills, the likelihood of dodgyweather conditions and of course the prospect of spending every waking hour with their parents and siblings. No mean feat! And 2) Because it’s an amazing charity. I am fortunate enough to be the manager of the Cafe on the Square (see smci website) and can give first hand accounts of how our little cafe is making a HUGE difference in our community. All profits go straight back into community projects for the benefit of folks in Sea Mills, Bristol.
What will your pennies and pounds do?

Loads!!! The Cafe already provides the venue to run various courses from money management to first aid but more than that, it acts as a real focal point for the community. Not only is it shiny and new but it’s also warm and friendly. Your lovely donations will contribute towards all kinds of things from funding other community projects and courses to contributing towards the substantial running costs of the cafe.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and if you’re able to help us reach our goal, thank you again. If you’re unable to donate at this time, no worries but please consider praying for the good health and safety of us all on the route, for dry weather if at all possible and for our children to enjoy it as much as they did the last two times we did this. Also, please consider posting this page on FB and Twitter and spreading the word. Cheers lots, all the best to you and yours, Heidi ;0) Offers of corporate sponsorship gratefully received and seriously considered.
